Roman and Riley are local lads with big ambitions. After dabbling with Thai boxing on and off, two years ago they made a bold decision – to give up all other sports and fully dedicate themselves to Muay Thai. Since then, they’ve made impressive strides, competing and winning internationally, and establishing themselves as serious contenders in this demanding martial art.
Their shared dedication, discipline, and grit have already earned them gold at the Celtic Cup in Ireland – and this is only the beginning.
Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, is a full-contact combat sport that originated in Thailand. Known as “The Art of Eight Limbs”, it’s a stand-up striking discipline that utilises punches, kicks, elbows, knees, clinching techniques, and takedowns.
Although its popularity has grown in recent years, Muay Thai remains largely underfunded in the UK. Fighters like Roman and Riley often have to self-fund their training camps while balancing full-time work alongside an intense training schedule.
